Most tournaments offer a late-registration period, in which players can buy-in and receive the starting stack even after the tournament has started. Poker tournaments begin at a designated start time, and most tournaments also have a late registration period. The 8,569 players then competed for a share of the $80,548,000 prize pool. The payout structure dictated that 15 percent of the field would get paid, which means 1,286 players cashed in the tournament.
Reducing bet stacks can influence action, create confusion and increase errors. Only the player currently facing action may ask the dealer to bring-in bets. In the event an Electric Poker tournament is canceled prior to the first card being dealt, all players will be refunded their buy-in, regardless of the spinner selecting a prize or not. In the event the Electric Poker tournament has commenced and is then canceled, the terms and conditions set forth in Section A(2) (Tournament Cancelation) applies. How Long Does a Poker Tournament Last?
The prize structure is not finalized until registration has closed and the rebuy and/or add-on period is over. This arguably gives the player a greater chance to recover from being an extremely short stack, and the fairness of that approach has been a hot topic since the format itself gained popularity.
